He was predeceased by: his parents, Orlando Paul and Lucy Francis Zimmerman (Ramsey); and his siblings, William E. Adams, Orlando Al Zimmerman, Virginia Harlan (Steve) and Julia Ulrey (Herb).
He is survived by: his wife Judith Zimmerman (Segar); and his children, Robert E. Zimmerman II (Dima), Tracy Jessup, Tami Jackson (Jerry) and Vicki Moore (Tim). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
