He was predeceased by: his father Richard C. Peters Sr.. He is survived by: his mother Sandra 'Sue' Mangum (Bell); his wife Cherie (Brown); his children, Patrick Scott (Angie), Marisa Scott, Amanda Turnpaugh (Kyle) and Mathew Peters; his grandchildren, Lorelee, Sierra, Ryan, Leo and Ian; his siblings, Angela, David (Jenny), Kathaleen (John), Theresa, Thelma (Rocky) and John (Darlene); his mother-in-law Linda (Jess); and his sisters-in-law, Rhonda Denise (Jeff) and Scrappy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Indiana Wildlife Federation.
