He was predeceased by: his parents, Spalding Sanders and Marilyn Sanders (Glines); his daughter Kristin Sanders; and his siblings, Kurt Sanders, Jack Sanders, Gail Sanders and LonniAnn Sanders.

He is survived by: his sons, James J. Sanders (Kathleen) and John J. Sanders; and his siblings, Karen Sanders (Chuck), Jill Brazinsky and Kim Sasek (Jim).
