He was predeceased by: his parents, Alberto Alvarez and Delmira Alvarez. He is survived by: his son James E. Alvarez (Carol); his grandchildren, Anthony, Kathryn and Steven Alvarez; his stepchildren, Charles Reed, Carol Korth, John Reed, Kathie Rigby, Timothy Reed and Elizabeth Privette; and his siblings, Lalo Alvarez, Zenon Alvarez and Eugenia DeLarze Alvarez. He is also survived by 12 step-grandchildren; 18 step great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Marie Goretti Catholic Church.
