He was predeceased by: his parents, David Thomas Winters and Mary Bergman Winters; his former wife Elizabeth I. Soyack Winters; his stepson Richard Brooks; and his siblings, George Winters and Patricia Fugate.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Brooks Winters; his children, David T. Winters (Jacqui), Daniel Winters (Polly) and Debra Winters; his sister Kay McGill; his grandchildren, Hannah Winters, Matthew Winters, Henry Winters, Luther Winters, Alex Brooks and Andy Brooks; and his great grandchildren, Adley Brooks and Mila Brooks.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Catholic Charities or VNA Hospice of the Wabash Valley, in his memory.
