He is survived by: his daughter Disney; his former wife Constance Spears; his children, Suzette Astell-Richardson and Bret Astell; his grandchildren, Chris Phillips (Chelsey Mohr), Luke Phillips Nicholas (Amy), Benjamin Astell (Melissa) and Matt Astell (Kalaundria); his former wife Karen Jehnke; his wife Cherie Smith; his stepchildren, Candy Shaw Kloett (Jeff), Lisa Shaw Carey (Brian) and Mark Samson; his stepgrandchildren, Ben Percy (Jill), Will Percy, Alexandra Percy, Austin Percy, Jared Smoot, Jordan Smoot (Olivia), Delene Samson, Maggie Carey and Nicole Carey; his sister-in-law Mildred Astell; and also, David, Tina Moody, Christopher, Matthew and Angela Moody.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 11th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, September 12th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the West Lebanon Christian Church (201 S Clinton St, West Lebanon, IN 47991). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, September 12th 2024 at the Sunset Memorial Park (3901 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL 61834).
