He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Shelton and Bonnie Shelton (Rager); his wife Mina Jean (Reinhart); and his siblings, Lloyd Shelton and Nelda Shepherd.

He is survived by: his children, Jeff Shelton (Ruth) of Lafayette and Kerri Summey (Ted) of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
