Steven W. Newberry Obituary
Steven W. Newberry, 60, of West Lafayette, formerly of Brookston, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Steven was born January 4, 1961 in Lafayette to the late Albert “Wally” Newberry and Linda (King) Newberry. Steven was a proud graduate of Frontier High School class of 1979.
Steven married the love of his life, Jennifer Kelly, on November 4, 2006 in Lafayette; she survives.
Mr. Newberry was a self-employed Certified Water Operator. Previously, he worked for 20 years for Indiana American Water (formerly United Water). When he was younger, Steve worked for Lafayette Tent & Awning, Findlay Drilling and Dilden Brothers Drilling.
For the last 20 years, Steven rarely missed a Saturday out at the movie theater with his good friend Kyle Landis. Steven had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes or be the one to pick the birthday card. Steven was a Purdue Men’s Basketball and Chicago Cubs fan.
Surviving with his wife, Jennifer, is a son, Joshua F. Newberry (wife: Kelsie) of West Lafayette; his mother, Linda J. Newberry; his sister, Tracy Peters; a very special Aunt, Brenda King; father-in-law, Don Kelly; a brother & sister-in-law, Jeff & Brenda Kelly and a brother-in-law, Doug Duff. Steven loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters, Karoline and Kennedy Newberry.
Preceding him in death is his father, Albert “Wally” Newberry; his brother-in-law, Fred Peters and a sister-in-law, Chris Duff.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home (101 West 4th St.) Brookston. A graveside committal will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at the Brookston IOOF Cemetery; Rev. Dr. Lelan D. McReynolds to assist.
