He was predeceased by: his parents, Evert Bess and Lou Bess. He is survived by: his children, Lucy Ryan (Doug), Janet Williams (Mike), Scott Bess (Robin) and Todd Bess (Tonya). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's name may be given to the West Lafayette Public Library, 208 W Columbia St, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
