Gilbert of West Lafayette, Indiana, born in Fowler, Indiana, who passed away on September 5, 2021, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clyde Hackley and Bessie Hackley (Atkinson); her son John Gilbert; and her siblings, Deloris Pampel and Robert Hackley.
She is survived by: her husband James Gilbert; her daughters, Carol Gilbert of Plymouth, Diane Miller (Robert) of New Castle, Elaine Scott (Jerry) of Lafayette and Marla Ostermeyer (David) of Carmel; her daughter-in-law Bernice Gilbert of Remington; her siblings, Glenora Armold of Fowler, Mary Kruger of Kokomo, Beverly Hackley of Fowler and James Hackley (Laura) of Fowler; and her grandchildren, Katherine Vanderwall (Joel), Daniel Gilbert (Adrienne), Nicole Weaver (Jerry), Richard Miller (Emily), Paul Sadler (Julie), Adam Sadler (Allyssa), Brady Sadler (Sarah), Mark Ostermeyer (Sarah) and Mathew Ostermeyer (Alicia). She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Phyllis' name to the American Diabetes Association or Benton County Community Foundation.
