He was predeceased by: his parents, Edith Smiley (Haimbaugh) and Glen Smiley; his wife Lois Lee of Lawrenceville, IL; and his siblings, Arthur, Everett and Louise.
He is survived by: his children, Thomas Smiley (Deborah) and Lisa Heinze (David) of Elburn, IL; and his grandchildren, Colleen Weinzapfel (Nick), Kirk Smiley (Lynne), Chad Heinze and Cameron Heinze. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
