With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Carolyn Stearns of West College Corner, Indiana, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Carolyn left this world on October 6, 2024 at the age of 94, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ross C. Witter and Myrtle Sanford Witter; her husband Frank VanAusdall Stearns; her daughter Linda Jewell; her grandsons, Brian Pohlar, Brother Floyd, Mark, Wayne and Robert Witter; and her sisters, Martha Bothast, Geneva Curry and Irene Hartman.
She is survived by: her children, Alice Rayburg (Ray) of Arcanum, OH, Joyce Knight (Don) of Danville, IN, Lisa Mustin (Mike) of Liberty, IN, David Stearns (Brenda) and Dale Stearns (Huong Le) of Oxford, OH.; and her grandchildren, Kevin Pohlar, Carole Kehl, Jennifer Brock, Michael Stearns and Amber Hughes. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
After retirement and her husband's death, Carolyn volunteered at McCullough Hyde Hospital for over 20 years, (1997-2020) serving as chairman of same-day surgery, also assisting in medical records, retiring when Covid hit.
