He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Applegate and Vera Applegate (Leach); his son Jared Applegate; his brother Wayne Applegate; and his brother-in-law Phillip Schackow.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Bolen; his daughters, Heather Applegate of Waterloo, Megan (Craig Daniels) and Ashley (Eric Henderson); his grandchildren, Dreylon, Channing, Adalyn, Hadley, Holden, Harper, Mardie, Maxlyn, Hollis and Dawsyn; his sisters, Penny Schackow of Fort Wayne and Darlene Schackow (Phillip) of Defiance; and his sister-in-law Mary Applegate (Wayne) of Auburn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
