He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry F. Mortorff and Elta Mortorff (Betz); his wife Gertie Smith; his brother Lyle Mortorff; and his brother-in-law Donald Johnson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Cindy Kessler (Ed) of Auburn, Judy Brown (Doug) of Kalamazoo and Marcia DePew of Angola; his grandchildren, Brian Kessler, Josh Kessler (Jalyssa), Brandon DePew (Erin), Stephanie Mocherman (Logan), Alisha Chapman (Ron), Mariah DePew, Andrea Carmer and MiKayla Miller (Corey); his sister Leora Johnson of Hamilton; his nieces, Sherry Johnson, Linda Murden (Neal), Marla Julian and Lori Zimmerman; and his nephew David Johnson (Kelli). He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
