He was predeceased by: his parents, Verl L. Hartman and Louise Hartman (Dibling); his brother Wayne Hartman; and his son-in-law Thomas Lochner. He is survived by: his children, Denise Smith (Rob) of Sellersburg, Teresa "Teri" Krafft (Robert) of Auburn and Thomas Hartman (Jana) of Auburn; his grandchildren, Jacob Lochner (Joan), Sean Lochner (Mary), Taya Krafft, Jon Krafft, Tianna Caldwell (Brandon), Mallory Hartman and Cole Hartman (Mara); his great grandchildren, Aubree Lochner, Harrison Lochner, Elias Lochner, Axton Krafft, Kellin Krafft, Teegan Caldwell and Eliza Caldwell; and his sister Betty Noragon (Ralph) of Auburn.
He served on the Waterloo Town Council, Waterloo Redevelopment Board, Waterloo Cemetery Board, Grant Township Advisory Board and Waterloo Depot Foundation.
