He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph S. Bassler and Catherine M. Bassler (Schneider); and his siblings, Margaret Lucille Carey, Sr. (Bassler), Mary Elise Bassler (Lena Mae), Mary Lou Bassler and Joseph F. Bassler.
He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Mary Jo Reynolds (Paul) of Evansville, Patti Edwards (Dean) of Brownsburg, Karen Brown (Chris) of Washington, Kevin Carey of Washington, Chris Bassler of Washington and Eric Bassler (Julie) of Washington. He is also survived by sixteen great-nieces and nephews and ten great-great nieces and nephews.
