He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Akers and Doris Akers (Sterling). He is survived by: his wife Phyllis; his siblings, John Akers, Bob Akers and Sharon Vollman; his children, Thomas W. Akers II (Beth), Kyle Akers and Shelly Haag (Jason); and his grandchildren, Ashton Akers, Thomas W. Akers III, Kenley Akers, Ashley Marks (Larry), Justin Brisentine, Brooke Akers, Mckenna Brisentine and Emily Haag.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
