He was predeceased by: his parents, William Everette and Lilly Ruth Sweet (Perkins); his wife Sharon D. Lucas; his son Steven Sweet; and his sisters, June Schoonover and Betty Leighty.

He is survived by: his children, Mark Sweet (Patti) of Collierville, TN, Bill Sweet of Washington, IN and Amy Auberry (Tim) of Washington, IN. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to made to the Washington Catholic Endowment Fund.
