He was predeceased by: his father Leo Shortt; his son Michael Shortt; and his siblings, Joe, Jerry, Larry, Maxine Mangus and Phyllis Comeno.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Garland of Plymouth; his sons, Steven Shortt (Jennifer) of Walkerton, Ken Shortt (Rhonda) of North Liberty, Ron Shortt of Leesburg, Greg Shortt (Kim) of Plymouth and Steve Jackson (Lori) of Port Orchard, WA; and his sister Jean Lohr of Elkhart. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
