He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Shafer and Dorothy Ellen Shafer (Cowins); his former wife Bonnie Shafer (Holt); his daughter Misty Shafer; his granddaughter Chyanne Shafer; and his pet Brownie.
He is survived by: his children, Ronnie Harold Shafer of Waldron and Elizabeth Lou Lewis (Lloyd) of Flat Rock; his stepchildren, Nicole Chidester (Jim) of Wisconsin, Katrina Bergdahl (Raymond) of Indianapolis and Joel Campbell Sr. (Deborah) of Indianapolis; his sisters, Peggy Crain (Shafer) of St. Paul and Crystal Shook (Shafer) of Waldron; and his grandchildren, Braxton Savage and Bailey Savage. He is also survived by 5 step grandchildren.
