He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl F. Bettner and Bertha E. Bettner (Short); his children-in-law, Rev. Michael Saddler and Kathy Bettner; and his grandson Travis Kelley.
He is survived by: his wife Edith Crosby Bettner; and his children, Sherry Benson (Jay) of Waldron, Gerald Bettner (Linda) of Bloomington, Nelson Bettner (Donna) of Boggstown, Shirley Saddler of Van Buren and Max Bettner (Renita) of Columbus. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel (819 S Harrison St, Shelbyville, IN 46176). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
