He is survived by: his wife Suzy Schmitt (Axton); his children, Allison Renae Gauer, Laura Leigh Phelps (Ben), Erick Scott Schmitt (Ame) and Jared Craig Schmitt (Christy); his siblings, Jennifer Egli, Larry Schmitt (Melody), Glenn Schmitt (Brenda) and Bruce Schmitt; and his grandchildren, Haley Holman, Tyler Holman, Jace Gauer, Aubrey Schmitt, Aliyah Strange (Cameron), Kaylie Schmitt, Ellie Schmitt, Dominic Metcalf, Payton Metcalf and Brooklyn Phelps.
