He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Schmitz and Esther Schmitz (Reineke); and his siblings-in-law, Christine Schmitz (McFadin) and Galen Dougan. He is survived by: his wife Delene Schmitz (Phillips); his siblings, Nancy Dougan (Schmitz) and Albert; his sister-in-law Tanya Schmitz (Mofield); his son Hans; his daughter-in-law Cindy Schmitz (Madden); his daughter Carolina (Schmitz); his son-in-law Michael Patterson; and his grandchildren, Jackson Madden, Paige, Levi, Josiah Patterson and Harper Schmitz.
