He was predeceased by: his father Harold Edwin. He is survived by: his mother Virginia Sue James (Slaughter) of Indiana; his wife Janice James of Wabash; his children, Krystal Roberts of Elkhart, Bob James of Wabash and Kyle James of Wabash; and his sister Julie Bishopp (Mark) of Leesburg. He is also survived by four nieces and five nephews.
