He was predeceased by: his parents, John McCarty and Alma McCarty (Arms); his son Gary Elwood McCarty; and his siblings, John W. McCarty, Bob McCarty, Elijah McCarty, Russell Lloyd McCarty, Roberta Ratliff and Joy Rice.
He is survived by: his wife Libby McCarty of Wabash; his daughters, Jenny McCarty Richardson (Darrell) of Somerset and Darlene McCarty of Wabash; his granddaughters, Amanda Boggs (Larry) of Wabash and Amy Rosen (Aaron) of Urbana, Indiana; and his great grandchildren, Austin Boggs (Paige) of Indianapolis, Leigha Boggs (Jasper Donaldson) of Wabash, Cole Rosen of Urbana, Addy Rosen of Urbana and Abbie Boggs of Wabash.
