He was predeceased by: his parents, Foster W. Gatchel and Florence Gatchel (Hart); and his son Kenneth Gatchel. He is survived by: his former wife Anna Marie Sample; his wife Angela Gatchel of Wabash; his children, James Leo Gatchel of Logansport, Douglas Gatchel (Jennifer) of LaFontaine, Rebbeca Novak (Donald) of Wabash, Connie Gatchel of Wabash, Katrina Blackburn of Wabash and Cindy Stinson of Wabash; and his brother Foster "Mick" Gatchel (Barbara) of Wabash. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.
