He was predeceased by: his wife Patsy Phillips; his grandparents, Ethel and Raymond Mengedoht; his father Marion Phillips (Mengedoht); and his cousin Ancy Kaiser.
He is survived by: his children, Brian Phillips (Lori) of Bruceville, IN and Shelly Polston (Eric) of Vincennes, IN; his granddaughter Lauren Hawkins (Chad); his great grandchildren, Lane of Vincennes and Aubree Hawkins of Vincennes; and his brothers, James Phillips (Gloria) of Charlotte, NC, Alden Phillips (Barbara) of Bruceville, Merle Moore (Kim) of Vincennes, IN and Lonnie Moore (Cindy) of Vincennes, IN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Good Samaritan Hospice in Sonny's honor.
