He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey A. Leatherbury and Gertrude Buchanan-Leatherbury (Courtney); and his half-siblings, Elvan E. Buchanan, Effie Wall, Flora Dolan and Louise Mahoney May. He is also survived by his several nieces and nephews.
