He was predeceased by: his parents, Gabe Ritchie and Norsie Ritchie (Ritchie); his wife Ruth Elaine Richardson; his sister Malvery Hartwell; and his grandsons, Steven Short, Brian Short and Lamont Johnson.
He is survived by: his children, William Ritchie (Debra) of Scipio, Donnie Ritchie of Versailles, David Ritchie (Lisa) of Versailles, Joe Ritchie of Versailles, Roger Ritchie (Sherrie) of Columbus, Gena Short of Versailles and Rosemary Ritchie of Versailles; and his siblings, Bert Ritchie of North Vernon, Carneil Ritchie of North Vernon, Frenchie Ritchie of North Vernon, Marie Perry of North Vernon and Rachel Perry (Rex) of Sebring, Florida. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines, only 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time.
Memorials may be made in honor of Elmer through the funeral home to the Austin Regular Baptist Church.
