He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Butler and Estella Butler (Hall); his wife Lois June Butler (Thompson); his daughter Kelly Butler; and his siblings, Betty Shinkle and Phillip Butler.

He is survived by: his daughter Michelle Butler of San Diego; and his sisters, Rose Hummel of Moores Hill, Rita Moeller of Lawrenceburg, Cathy Cornett of Moores Hill, Jayna Denny of Fairfield and Susan Baculik of Southern Shores.
