We are sad to announce that on June 23, 2022, at the age of 78, Maria Helen Wirtz of Valparaiso, Indiana, born in East Chicago, Indiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Antonio Velasquez and Aurora Velasquez (Ortega); and her siblings, Robert Velasquez and Aurora Vela. She is survived by: her husband Robert Wirtz; her sons, Daniel Munoz of Valparaiso, Adam Rodriguez (Kasia) of Chicago, IL and Christopher A. Rodriguez of New Orleans, LA; her stepchildren, Laura Shade of Hammond, Joseph Wirtz of Chicago, IL, Michael Rodriquez (Meleah) and Vincent Rodriguez of Las Vegas, NV; her grandchildren, Felix and Zofia Rodriguez; her stepgrandsons, Collin and Logan Shade; and her siblings, Tony, Charles, Edmund, Mario Velasquez, Teresa Jarecki, Margaret Martin and Ophelia Rice.
