He was predeceased by: his parents, Flavian H. Johnston and Margaret P. "Pauline" Johnston (Banks); his wife Karen Lee Holtzman; and his brother William Michael Johnston. He is survived by: his children, Lee Anne Johnston of Valparaiso and David Joseph Johnston (Shelby) of Portage; his brother Samuel Howard Johnston of Porter; and his daughter Junebug.
