He is survived by: his son James Edward Smith, Jr.; the mother of his child Joyce Cody; his granddaughter Jamesha Lymm Smith; his great grandchild Caleb James Smith; his siblings, Diane Mason, Samantha Copeland, Beverly Copeland-Davis, Dina Smith and Samuel Smith, Jr.; and his aunt Katie Jefferson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
