He is survived by: his wife Rosalinda Lara-Gonzalez; his children, Ruben Mendez (Kelly) of Valparaiso, James Mendez, Jr. of Valparaiso and Marina Mendez of Valparaiso; his grandchildren, Tylor, Brianna, Vincent, Jessa, Izaiah and Elizabeth; his brothers, Christian Mendez (Maison) and Lauro Mendez; and his sister-in-law Rosie Mendez.
