He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. (Pauline Rue, III) and S. Navy; his wife Lois Eaton; his daughter Deborah M. Madrid; and his brother Shawn Rue.

He is survived by: his grandsons, William "J. R." Eaton (Sue) of Valparaiso and James A. Rue (Tracy); and his siblings, Megan and Tim.
