He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Lauer and Awyn Lauer (Gamber); and his brother Laurence Lauer. He is survived by: his wife Lillie Jean Lauer (Rehlander); his children, Ryan Lauer (Blair), Jeanine Ratterman (Nathan) and Christian Lauer (Rachael); and his grandchildren, Awyn, Lillian, Isaac, Sidney Lauer, Nicole, George Ratterman, Maximilian, Eleanor and Lucille Lauer. He is also survived by his wife, family, and friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (1700 Monticello Park Dr, Valparaiso, IN 46383). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
