He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Eldon and Emmagene Atkisson (Newton); his siblings, Carolyn Bentley (James) and Jim Atkisson; and his son-in-law Kevin Porter.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Cardwell of Tipton; his children, Kathy Cook (Grant) of Augusta, Georgia, Pamela Porter of Tipton, Carmen Payne (Rick) of Tipton and Mike Atkisson (Jamie) of Tipton; his brother David Atkisson (Sue) of Kokomo; his grandchildren, Matthew Porter (Amy), Katrina Fenn (Dustin), Melanie Lovelace (Tommy), Trent Atkisson (Danielle), Erik Atkisson (Addy), Ethen Atkisson (Jenny), Brian Cook (Maegan), Susannah Cook, Lara Johnson (Chase), Kirstin Payne (Parker Adams) and Kelsey Payne (Adam Humbert); and his great grandchildren, Milly, Ryker, Marshall, George, Collin, Evelyn, Zoey, Kire, Lincoln, Silas, Nevaeh, Addison, Liam and Haisley.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Young-Nichols Funeral Home (216 W Jefferson St, Tipton, IN 46072). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at the Albright Cemetery (3910 Albright Rd, Kokomo, IN 46902).
He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him for his contributions to his family, community, and professions.
