He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Richard H. Poe and Rosa R. Roby (Smithson) of Elwood; his siblings, Steven Poe (Marcia) of Greenwood, Gregory Poe of Elwood, John Poe (Diane) of Loganville, GA, Jeff Poe (Joyce) of Elwood and Beth Melvin (Mark) of Elwood; and his stepfather Roy M. Roby. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
