He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard "Rutt" Retherford and Norma Pumphrey (Cook); and his siblings, Karen and Stephen. He is survived by: his wife Rachel Elaine Retherford (Bayliff); his sons, Greg Retherford (Cathy) and Kyle Retherford (Betsy); his grandchildren, Mallory, Marisa, Owen, Sophie, Henry, Grace, Layla and Carter; and his sister Dinda Thompson.
