He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Shelton and Lillian Shelton (Scifers); his wife Patricia Maxine Shelton (Batts); and his brothers, Lawrence Shelton and Edward Shelton.
He is survived by: his son David Richard Shelton of Indianapolis; his grandchildren, Corey Austin Lee Shelton of Indianapolis and Samantha Jo Ellis of Morgantown; and his niece Sharon Marie Lopez.
