With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Jean DeMarr of Terre Haute, Indiana, who passed away on April 22, 2023 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, William Fleming Bailey and Laura Shauman Bailey.
Awards that she received for her scholarship include the 1996 Dove Award for "Outstanding Contributions to the Study of Mystery and Detective Fiction" by the Popular Culture Association and the 2000 MidAmerica Award for outstanding contributions to the study of Midwestern American Literature by the Society for the Study of Midwestern Literature.
