He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Merritt and Sadie Merritt (Ruark); his children, Toby Merritt, Wyman Therber and Shannon Merritt; his grandsons, Fred Merritt and Francis Sabelhaus; his siblings, Bill Merritt, Laura Katherine Campbell and Dorothy Jean McKeethen; and his son-in-law Pat McKinney.
He is survived by: his pets, Bob and Lucky; his wife Darlene Merritt; his daughters, Roberta "Bobbie" Sabelhaus, Theresa Galey (Curtis), Tamera Merritt (Mark Brinksneader) and Misty Merritt-Bolin (Tracy); and his son-in-law Chris Merritt.
