He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Sweeney and Hazel Sweeney (Poe); and his brothers, Gaither, Bobby and Leonard Sweeney.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Sweeney (Engelbrecht); his siblings, Elmer Sweeney of Owensboro and Betty Sweeney of Owensboro; his daughters, Shirley Phelps (Michael) of Owensboro and Vickie Jackson (Frank) of Owensboro; his grandchildren, Brandon, Jason Phelps, Amber, Josh and Jamal Sweeney; his stepsons, Jeffery Huebschman (Kristina), Dr. Jon Huebschman (Amy) of Charleston, TN and Jay Huebschman Evanston (Lee Ann); his grandchildren, Katie, Kevin, Krystal, Philip and Patrick Huebschman; and his sister Alice Sweeney. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren; along with many friends, and sisters and brothers-in-law.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Cemetery Fund or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
