He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver Purtee and Betty Purtee (Baxter); and his sister Susan D. Scott. He is survived by: his wife Janet Purtee of Swayzee; his children, Jennifer Smothermon of Fort Wayne, Marc Purtee (Stephanie) of Hobart and Brett Purtee (Jennifer) of Marion; his grandchildren, Tyler Purtee (Meranda), Abigail Purtee (Joshua Espelita) and Zachary Smothermon; his great grandchild Adalyn Espelita; and his sisters, Kathy Purtee (Mick Cox) of Summitville and Debra Fulks. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
