He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Garr and Garnett Garr (Armstrong); his wife Inez L. Foust; his sister Betty Jacobs (Garr); and his daughter Leesa Garr.
He is survived by: his children, Jane Garr and John Garr II; his grandsons, Craig Barker (Eryn), Bradley Barker (Kristin) and Michael Barker; his great grandchildren, Carly Barker and Ava Barker; and his pet Nash.
