He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellen Markello (Beard) and Pete Shannon; his wife Ina Mae Trout; his stepfather Joseph Markello; his children, Thomas Carty, Robert Carty and Luetta Jean Russell; his grandsons, Robert Carty and Scott Carty; and his brothers, Merle Carty, Robert Markello, Charles Markello, William Shannon, Verl "Windie" Shannon and Larry Shannon.
He is survived by: his daughter Gloria Winget (Jim) of Wabash; his son-in-law Jerry Russell; his grandchildren, Stephanie Yocum (Paul), Christa Peacock, Olivia Moreno (Michael), Marcus Russell (Amanda), Jack Carty (Bev) and Levi Winget (Bailey); and his great great grandchild Silas. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
