He is survived by: his children, Russel Schaefer (Karen) of Sunman, Edna Gilbert (Jim) of Sunman, Linda McDonald (Dave) of Hilton Head and Mary Lou Eckstein (Ken) of Sunman; his grandchildren, Trisha Freyer, Trent Freyer, Tina Jenkins, Amanda Eckstein and Abbey Bruner (Ben); and his siblings, Harry, Robert, Lester and Rosemary Conrad.
