He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Ashby and Freda Ashby (Stephens); his granddaughter Serenity Anderson; his siblings, William Ashby and Deloris Brewer; and his half-siblings, Monroe Ashby, Marion Ashby, Junior Ashby, Alice Harshman, Joan Humphries and Carolyn Payne.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Ashby (Street); his daughters, Melissa Counceller-Summitville (Chris), Nikki Strong-Anderson and Holly Ashby-Veedersburg; his stepdaughter Melissa McClain-Alexandria (Phillip); his grandsons, Dylan McClain, Quenton McClain, Ethan McClain and Zayden Anderson; his brother James Ashby-Pierceton (Deborah); his half-brothers, Marvin Ashby-Alexandria (Nancy) and Keith Ashby (Vicki); and his sister Ethel Smith-Yorktown (Steven). He is also survived by Several nieces and nephews.
