He was predeceased by: his parents, Basil Owens and Ester Owens (Carpenter); his wife Bertha Owens (Griffin); and his stepson Charles Fruitt. He is survived by: his children, Melissa Owens-Albany and Jack Owens (Peggy); and his grandchildren, Nancy Fruitt-Syracuse, Jack Owens III and Nicole Smith (Thomas).
