He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Parnell and Opal Ladson Parnell; and his brother Charles Parnell. He is survived by: his wife Mary Kay Parnell; his daughters, Melissa McCloud (Sean) of Bolingbrook and Stephanie Selimos (Tom) of Elmhurst; his grandchildren, Samantha McCloud, George Selimos and Caitlin Selimos; and his pet Rusty.

In lieu of flowers the family requested memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Wounded Warrior Project - Donate.
